Ombak Bono
RIAUGREEN.COM - In the study of Environmental Fluid Mechanics, the term Bono is called Tidal Bore or bore / aegir / eagre / eygre. This article will explore how and when the Bono wave or wave occurred from a scientific point of view.

Scientifically, Bono Wave occurs due to a meeting between river currents and ocean currents leading upstream and downstream. This meeting caused a large wave that resembled the wave conditions we normally see in the middle of the sea or on the beach.

This natural phenomenon occurs at least in several regions of the world, including in Indonesia, namely in the village of Teluk Meranti, Riau Indonesia. In addition, in Riau also found a smaller Bono wave, precisely on the Rokan River. In Papua also occurs with a small condition called the Head of Water.

In general, the Bono wave is called TIDAL BORE. In Malaysia this term is called BENAK, the Batang Lupar River Estuary of Sri Aman Sarawak. While in Kent River England is called The Arnside Bore, and some are called Aegir. In the Severn River, England is called the Severn Bore. On the Amazon River and the surrounding rivers are called Pororoca.

The Process of Bono Waves (Bono Wave)

Bono waves that occur in the Kampar River occur usually when high tides occur in the sea. The tide then goes to the Kampar River. Furthermore, the speed of the current in the Kampar River will collide with the rising tide from the sea so that the wave is called the Bono wave. Bono will only happen if the sea water is high, the bigger the tide that occurs in the sea, the greater the possibility of Bono's waves. Rain factor that will increase river water discharge will also affect the magnitude of the Bono wave formed. You can imagine if the conditions of high rainfall and high tides in the sea are quite large, then the condition of Bono waves will also be even greater.

Tidal Bore, called Ombak Bono Sungai Kampar by the local community, will usually occur at the mouth of a river whose conditions are wide and shallow then narrow and straight after entering the river area. The shape of the mouth of the river that is budding resembles the letter "V" or funnel. Furthermore, it will be supported by the condition of the river that is shallow due to natural erosion. The two currents meeting namely river and sea currents in this location will cause tidal bore. But not all shallow V estuaries will trigger Tidal Bore. Because other things are also influenced by the factors of high tides and the rate of water.

In Muara Sungai Kampar, before the Bono wave occurs, it will usually begin with a sound like a whistle, then there will be a roar of water. The rumbling sound gets louder and harder and a big wave appears called the Bono Wave. The speed of the Bono wave wave reaches 40 km / hour. This wave is able to enter the upper reaches of the river for kilometers away. Usually able to reach a distance of about 60 km upstream and will end in the Tanjung Pungai area. The number of Bono waves is quite numerous and in tandem. Sometimes on the banks of the river and sometimes it can also occur in the middle of the river. The biggest bono will usually occur when the rainy season arrives, where the Kampar River water discharge will rise. On a matter of months it will usually occur in November and December.

According to the surrounding community, Bono will usually occur on every 10-20 Malay month of the Arab year, or what is commonly referred to as the "Big Month" or "Full Moon". As for the large Bono wave, it will usually occur on the 13-16 Malay month of the Arabic year. The waves formed are generally white and brown, according to the color of the river water. Bono will also occur every 'dead month' or the end of the month and the beginning of the month of the Arab year.

Actually the depth of the river around the Bono wave is not deep. Only about 1 to 2 meters, Bono waves rarely occur in deep river areas. Waves occur in certain parts of a river channel with different depths. As a result of Bono, the channel often moves. So that for ships passing through this area must use people who know the river channel, or commonly referred to as Tekong.

Bono wave prediction in Kampar River in 2018-2019

We estimate the condition of the wave of the Kampar River by considering:

1. Perigee or Apsis is the condition of the distance of the moon closest to the earth. The term Supermoon is rarely used by scientists.
2. Full Moon or Full Moon which is the position of the moon in the opposite direction with the sun seen from the earth. At that time the moon appears as a full moon.
Both conditions above greatly affect the condition of rising water levels on the earth, especially sea levels. In the schedule of the Kampar river bono waves, we did not participate in estimating weather conditions, especially rain, which also affected the occurrence of bono waves, especially the discharge and rate of water from upstream to downstream of the Kampar River.

An additional note that we do not consider the condition of the new moon or dead month or the dark moon or any other term.

If the estimates we make are wrong, please forgive.

This schedule is generally useful for those of you who want to surf at the Wave of Kampo River Bono which is the longest wave in the river.

IT WOULD USE THE LOCAL GUIDELINES, who are very familiar with the condition of the Waves of Bono Sungai Kampar.

DON'T FORGET ... LET A CLEAN TOURISM.
